Roughly two years after  the gas-powered GV70 debuted, Genesis followed up with its EV sibling, the Electrified GV70, in 2021. Although both models were redesigned in 2024, the EV feels more polished, quieter, and noticeably quicker.  

The Electrified GV70 has the running shoes to keep up with many performance-minded compact luxury EVs, but it prefers to carry itself as a calm, classy option that prioritizes ride quality and convenience over playing the speed demon. In this post, we take a closer look at the 2026 Genesis Electrified GV70 and see how it holds its own against the competition.

Performance: The BOOST Advantage

Two electric motors (160 kW each, mounted on the front and rear axles) power the Electrified GV70. Paired with an automatic transmission, they deliver a combined 429 hp and 516 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels. With that output, the AWD luxury SUV accelerates from 0–60 mph in about five seconds. When extra punch is needed, a steering-wheel-mounted BOOST button temporarily squeezes out up to 483 hp for 10 seconds.

For a 5,201-lb SUV, the Electrified GV70’s handling is impressive, even through tight curves. But even with its balanced handling and power, the SUV’s demeanor is calm and composed rather than that of a sharp driver’s toy.

Battery And Range: More Needed

The 2026 Electrified GV70 comes with an 84.0 kWh battery pack, an upgrade to the 77.4 kWh pack in the 2025 model. But at an estimated range of 263 miles, the Electrified GV70 falls short of expectations, especially since many rivals in the compact luxury SUV segment comfortably exceed 300 miles. On higher trims with 20-inch wheels and extra weight (5,311 lbs), range drops to around 243 miles.


However, Genesis equipped the EV with Tesla NACS charging ports and promises access to IONNA Network chargers in the future, expanding the EV’s charging access. With an 800V DC Ultra-Fast charger (drawing on up to 350kW of power), Genesis also promises the SUV could go from 10% to 80% in about 19 minutes.

The Electrified GV70 treats the driver and passengers to high-quality materials, refined design, and a level of comfort and convenience that offers excellent value for money. It seats five, providing front occupants with 38.6 inches of headroom and 41.3 inches of legroom. Rear legroom comes in at 36.6 inches, which, while not exactly generous, is still comfortable for most adults.

The EV offers 28.7 cu. ft. of cargo space behind the second row. With the rear seats folded, the space expands to 56.5 cu. ft. Overall, the Electrified GV70 offers a quiet, composed ride, while the panoramic sunroof brings in natural light, enhancing the cabin’s ambiance.

Tech: Intuitive and Improved

A new 27-inch OLED screen sits atop the dashboard, integrating the instrument cluster, navigation system, and connectivity hub. Compared to previous models, the infotainment display is larger and better, with notable improvements in voice recognition. Also, it is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Most of the safety tech gearheads would expect are standard, including Forward Collision Assist, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, Safe Exit, etc.

Trims and Pricing

The Electrified GV70 comes in three trims: AWD (MSRP: $64,380), Advanced AWD (MSRP: $69,250), and Prestige AWD (MSRP: $75,350). While the price and the extra 20 miles of range make the entry-level trim tempting, we’d likely opt for the Advanced AWD. For about $5,000 more, it adds nearly all the advanced safety and convenience features of the Prestige trim. Admittedly, the head-up display, Nappa leather seats, and a few other premium perks on the Prestige AWD are beckoning, but the middle trim hits the sweet spot for a value-for-money Electrified GV70 purchase.

The Electrified GV70 faces competition from big names like the Tesla Model Y, Cadillac Lyriq, and Polestar 4. The Model Y AWD comes with a significantly lower entry price (about $20,000 less) and offers superior range and power. However, the Genesis beats it in interior plushness and luxury, as the Model Y is minimalist. Against the Polestar 4, Genesis falls slightly short in power and range but maintains an edge in comfort and interior refinement. The Cadillac Lyriq AWD ($64,000) has a starting price closer to the Electrified GV70, but Genesis offers more power without lacking in refinement. With 319 miles of range, however, the Caddy travels farther. Against rivals, the Electrified positions itself as one of the most comfort-focused and luxurious options for its cost.
