Genesis has already made a name for itself with luxury EVs in the past decade. Now, the automaker is putting all it has learned into its most ambitious SUV yet, the GV90.
The 2027 Genesis GV90 rolls in with several world-first features and excellent craftsmanship that make Mercedes and BMW look like the warm-up act. In this post, we take a closer look at the GV90 and where it stands in the luxury EV pecking order.

Design: Looks Every Bit the Flagship
The GV90 has a restrained exterior inspired by the Korean moon jar, according to the automaker. At 208.1 inches in length and 79.9 inches wide, the EV has the proportions of a full-size luxury SUV, but maintains clean body surfaces rather than the typical aggressive detailing. It features Genesis’ signature two-line lighting and Micro Lens Array headlights in the front. The rear follows the same minimalist philosophy with thin lighting elements. 22- to 24-inch alloy wheels are available.
Genesis brought back the classic pillarless coach doors and modernized them to open independently and create a massive opening for getting in and out. The Neolun Arch Gate, as the carmaker calls the doors, is an impressive engineering trick that lets the back doors slide outward before swinging open in one swift motion.
Performance: Engineered for Speed and Stability
The GV90 gets two electric motors that crank out 657 hp and up to 590 lb-ft of torque. While those are great performance numbers for a luxury EV, the GV90 tilts more towards speed and driving experience than sheer power. Top speed is unconfirmed yet, but Genesis says the GV90 will do 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.
Also, it comes standard with all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering, which should make this large EV much easier to maneuver at both low and high speeds. Besides, the Multi-Chamber Air Suspension system adjusts the vehicle height to road conditions to ensure a smooth ride across all surfaces.
Battery and Range: Decent, But Could Be Better
The 2027 Genesis GV90 packs a large 123.5-kWh battery, the biggest on the Hyundai Motor Group lineup. At a claimed range of 310 miles per charge, the EV will go the long ride, but it starts to look less impressive when compared with Cadillac Escalade IQ’s 465 miles. A 350-kW DC charger will power the EV from 10% to 80% in a respectable 22-minute time. It also supports the NACS charging port.
Interior: Luxury at its Finest
The GV90 saved most of its ultra-luxury flexes for the cabin. Depending on the configuration, all seven or four seats are covered in premium leather with a quilted finish. The Neolun versions feature front seats that swivel 180 degrees to provide an executive suite for meetings, and all occupants are treated to standard heating and massaging. The top trim also gets a built-in fridge and a wood veneer floor equipped with underfloor heating to keep the cabin cozy. A 25-speaker Bang and Olufsen 3D sound system manages the audio.
In front, a large OLED display dominates the dashboard. There are 100-Watt USB-C charging ports and lots of digital controls in the center console, alongside the rotary gear selector that looks like a crystal ball. Genesis removed the conventional start button altogether to declutter the dashboard, adding another futuristic touch to the cabin. Press the brake pedal, and the EV is ready to go.
Infotainment: New Pop-Up Screen
The highlight of the GV90 infotainment setup is the 23.6-inch screen designed to expand to 24.6 inches for media display when parked. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported. The infotainment runs on the Pleos platform, which uses the Android Automotive operating system.
Safety and Driver Assist Tech
The 2027 Genesis GV70 debuts a world-first airbag system with twelve airbags in the EV, including a dedicated roof airbag that protects the roof in case of a rollover after a collision. The system also features an in-cabin monitoring system that detects occupant position and sitting status. The SUV also brings along a suite of driver-assist features expected of a luxury EV, including surround-view monitoring, a remote parking assist system, blind spot monitoring, and lane keep assist.
Trims and Prices
The GV90 is offered in three versions: the base GV90 trim, the Neolun, and the Neolun First Edition. Genesis has disclosed that the EV will start at an MSRP of $92,700 but is still silent on prices across the lineup. Also, besides the pillarless door and seat configurations, not much has been disclosed on what sets the versions apart. With the current top-spec GV80 starting at $79,350 before destination, Genesis has plenty of room to undercut rivals on this one. So, we expect the GV90 to top out at around $120k to $140k.
Where the GV90 Stands in the Luxury EV Market
Direct rivals of the 2027 Genesis include the Cadillac Escalade, Range Rover Electric, and Lucid Gravity, but it clears them all with its luxury offerings. Although its range falls behind by a mile (pun intended), the GV90 has enough power and driving experience to outshine the Mercedes EQS and the Range Rover. And if Genesis gets the price right, the GV90 could shake things up in the full-size luxury SUV segment when it arrives sometime in early 2027.
