Design: A New Face and Lighting Treatment

Mercedes retained the basic proportions of the gas-powered GLC but made some changes to the design. Highlights of the refresh include the roof, which noticeably slopes towards the rear for a subtle coupe-like profile. In front, the GLC Electric sports a new, illuminated Iconic Grille even though it doesn’t exactly need one that wide, being an EV. Star-themed LED headlights sit close to the grille.
Although its hood and body contours give it a muscular appearance, the EV looks more upright than aggressive. All-season tires are available, alongside 20- or 21- inch wheels, depending on the specification. The rear follows the same lighting theme, but the chrome accents look a tad too obvious, especially against the black paint, almost stealing attention from the taillamps. An optional powered tow hitch is available.
Interior: Cozy and Futuristic

The GLC Electric features upscale materials, with options including Nappa Leather, wood, carbon fiber, and vegan interior fittings. A 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen runs across the dashboard. The end-to-end display fuses the digital cluster, infotainment and passenger display into one flowing screen on the top spec. Lower-spec versions use the Superscreen arrangement instead, with a separate 14-inch passenger display.
Occupants can set the mood of choice with customizable light effects from a large panoramic sunroof and a 16-speaker Burmester Surround Sound System. The front seats are heated and powered, and thanks to the EV’s longer wheelbase, the rear seats have ample stretch room for occupants, almost like a GLE. Total cargo room can expand to an impressive 61.4 cu ft behind the front seats plus an extra 4.5 cu ft in the frunk.
Performance: Quick off the Line

The 2027 GLC Electric goes from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 4.2 seconds, pretty quick for an SUV of its size. It draws power from two permanent-magnetic electric motors with 483 hp and 590 lbs. of torque between them. The rear motor gets a dedicated two-speed transmission that engages the first gear for stronger acceleration, and the second for more efficiency at higher speeds.
Another plus is the optional Mercedes AIRMATIC air suspension, which helps smooth out the ride across modes. Drivers may notice an increase in height of up to 1.8 inches when using the Terrain Mode. The intelligent adaptive dampers and rear-axle steering make sure the drive stays composed and comfortable at corners and on highways. Plus, the EV is able to switch between all-wheel and rear-wheel drive in the Normal Mode as the need arises. All along, occupants enjoy a quiet cabin, thanks to the double-glazed windows that keep the noise out.
Charging: Less Time at the Charging Port

Mercedes says the 800v system supports up to 330 kW DC fast charging, with a 10- to 80% charge time of 22 minutes from the NACS charging port. The EV can also use the 400v chargers with the help of an integrated DC converter. Also, the charging ports can be power-operated from the central display, a nice touch most drivers will appreciate.
Connectivity and Driver Assist Features

The GLC Electric informative system runs on fourth-gen MBUX, powered by Mercedes’ MB.OS operating system. It supports facial recognition authentication, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, along with a virtual assistant with dedicated Google and Microsoft AI. The central display itself uses touch-sensitive controls but Mercedes retained a handful of physical controls in the floating center console for specific functions.
On the safety front, standard driver-assist features include cruise control, emergency braking assist, and blind spot monitoring. Advanced steering and lane change assist are available as optional packages.
Pricing and Trims

The 2027 GLC Electric is offered in a single model with an MSRP of $63,500. However, Mercedes offers three major equipment packages for buyers who want to option on more equipment and style. The Exclusive kit brings the 64-color LED lighting and front passenger display, among a few other features for an extra $2,350. Mercedes charges $4,400 for a few more features on the Pinnacle Trim, and reserves the top-of-the range luxury add-ons for the Pinnacle Plus, which costs $6,800.
The GLC 4Matic Electric in the EV Market

Although the 2027 Mercedes GLC Electric enters a luxury EV field crowded by German names like BMW iX3, Porsche Macan EV, and Audi Q6 E-Tron, its 483-hp output gives it a strong edge. Side by side, it trumps the BMW iX3 and the Audi Q6 E-Tron, two of the most powerful in the segment with 463 hp and 458 hp, respectively.
While the Porsche Macan 4 EV is more performance-oriented, especially in higher versions, the GLC Electric has a generally more composed driving. Also, the BMW is slightly cheaper than the GLC at the current starting point, but we don’t expect a few hundred bucks to make any difference to the target buyers.
