A big SUV In The Mid-Size Game: The 2025 GMC Acadia

Can ‘big’ belong in the mid-size category? The 2025 GMC Acadia says, ‘Absolutely.’  Redesigned for the 2024 model year, the Acadia became bolder, more muscular, and more visually appealing. The 2025 model carries on the beauty while adding subtle updates here and there.

It may be easy on the eyes, but not necessarily on the rough terrains. However, its biggest bragging right is the generous space it gifts the 7-8 passengers and their gear. Here are some of the things you should know about the 2025 GMC Acadia.

Commanding, Versatile Appearance

Although visually commanding, the 2025 GMC Acadia should appeal to urban drivers and offroaders. At the front, the beautifully sculpted hood meets its huge grille. The grille, flanked by GMC’s signature C-shape headlamps, is the major exterior difference from the trims. Choosing a higher trim means blacked-out or chrome-heavy grille. However, some trims may appear higher from the ground than others due to a difference in suspension.  On the side, the SUV wears clean lines while, as expected, the C-shaped lights appear again at the rear.

Decent Nudge

All the 2025 GMC Acadia trims have the same heart under the hood – a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four engine. The engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, churns out 328 hp and 326 lb. ft of torque. While those are satisfactory figures, a few people may desire more power for the cost of the SUV. However, the Acadia is capable, especially the off-road-ready AT4 trim that has a little more muscle than the rest.

The SUV comes standard with an FWD configuration while AWD is available except for the AT4, which comes standard with AWD and no option for further configurations. Due to its 6-7 drive modes, the Acadia is likely to feel at home on different kinds of terrains. And it offers an impressive 5,000 lbs max towing capacity. There are a few more powerful options out there, but the GMC Acadia remains a fierce competitor.

Classy, Spacious Cabin

While everything in the Acadia cabin may be worth mentioning, its generous storage space and passenger space may be the most impressive. For a 3-row, mid-size suv, the Acadia offers more third-row headroom (38.23 in) and legroom (32.14 in)  than many rivals. Also, with all three rows standing, it has 23.0 cu. ft. space in the cargo area. That’s more than what you get from the relatively spacious Kia Telluride and just about the same space behind the Volvo EX90 tailgate.  What about the additional storage below the center console, which is accessible to both the driver and front passenger?

The SUV seats eight passengers across three rows. But opting for captain chairs in the second row means seven passengers and more space. Beyond space, all trims are fitted with good-quality interior materials. The higher trims, however, are richer in interior accents and overall aesthetics. And panoramic sunroof is available in some trims to improve the cabin’s mood.

Money’s Worth Tech Suite

The 2025 GMC Acadia cabin is not only a comfortable space but also a connected and safe one. All trims have an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.0-inch vertical infotainment touchscreen. Although it is easy to get lost in the huge infotainment display, it uses the familiar Google built-in software and has voice recognition capabilities. Another interesting part of the tech suite is the standard OnStar services with features like remote commands, Google Maps, Alexa Built-In, etc.

Depending on the trim, the Acadia offers 8-9 available camera views for improved awareness. GM Super Cruise, which allows the driver to go hands-free while driving, is also available on all trims. Most of the safety and driver-assist tech are standard across all trims. They include forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, following distance indicator, etc.

Pricing and Trims

GMC offers three Acadia trims with the same engine and, arguably, an almost indistinguishable level of tech suite. The entry-level trim, Acadia Elevation, starts at $42,900, putting it in the same bracket as its cousin, the $46,395 2025 Buick Enclave.

People who are likely to go off the pavement a few times may consider the off-road-focused AT4 trim, starting at $51,200. Amongst other perks, it offers an additional drive mode for challenging terrains, off-road-suitable suspension, elevated height, skid plates, and a dark accented exterior.  The high-end and luxury-adjacent trim starts at $53,900. It adds a chrome-heavy grille, an 8-inch head-up display, and third-row power-folding seats to the equation, amongst others.
