Genesis needs no introduction. The Korean automaker has earned a reputation for luxury cars, with names like the GV80 Coupe and GV70 in its lineup. Next on the agenda is the GV60 Magma, a dialed-up racer that leads the way for more Magma editions to come.
The 2026 GV60 Magma will take Genesis into luxury-plus-performance territory where it will find German regulars like the Porsche Macan EV and BMW iX. Never mind the competition, the Magma promises enough style and power to hold its own in the segment, assuming the 700+ hp rumors are true. Find out all we know so far about the new Genesis.
A Spicy Design

Looks were never in question; it’s a Genesis after all. And since the automaker is intentional about making the Magma performance-oriented, it had to tune the design to fit the bill. The profile now flows downward to give the EV a lowered stance, much lower than that of the Genesis GV60. It comes fitted with a two-step grille, large intakes for cooling, and quad lamps neatly integrated into the front fascia. The side profile gives an equally aggressive look: fenders have been enlarged to accommodate wide-set wheels, which will up the Genesis game if they make it through production.
The handles remain flush. Body lines are more prominent, and the roofline sweeps lower toward the rear to create a coupe-style appearance. Out back, Genesis adds a large wing with end plates meant to channel airflow and support stability. The icing on top is the fiery orange color that stands out in any crowd.
High Performance Guaranteed

The GV60 Magma rides on the same E-GMP platform as its sister model, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, so we expect it to deliver up to 700 hp. The standard GV60 offers only 483 hp. But for a luxury EV that promises high performance, anything short of 600hp on the Magma would be a letdown. It will use an 84-kWh battery pack and deliver a likely driving range of 220 to 250 miles. We expect a 0 to 60mph time of 3.2 seconds or less.
Speaking of ride quality, the Magma’s body and soul have been jacked for pure driving excitement. Word is, an exclusive set of driving modes will accompany the standard AWD. So, drivers can expect more options than the regular Sport, Eco and Cruising modes. Torque information is unknown, but to live up to its promise of high performance, Genesis will have to equip the Magma with a dual-motor setup. Since it builds on the GV60, it should support rear locking technology and adaptive suspension for much-improved handling and responsiveness.

An Inviting Cabin

The Magma interior is a strong part of its value proposition. As of writing, Genesis hasn’t disclosed official information about the 2026 GV60 Magma interior, but we suspect it will glean from the GV60 playbook as well. The bucket-style seats will make a reappearance in refined, magma-inspired colors, and the entire interior will be covered by Napa and Suede leather with titanium gray accents. Since the EV is performance-focused, the wheel will likely feature fewer buttons, leaving most controls to the central display.
Digital display and infotainment touchscreen should come in the same dimensions (12.3 inches each) as the GV60, while a gear selector knob sits in the center console. However, not many changes are expected in terms of cabin space. Legroom and shoulder room should remain unchanged, but the Magma has obviously made some sacrifice with the headroom, considering its lowered stance.
New Tech Offerings

Plenty of tech additions to look forward to on the GV60 Magma. For example, the steering wheel will feature a ‘Boost’ button for extra power, a technology that comes in handy when overtaking. An additional Active Sound Design (e-ASD) provides sound feedback as drivers switch between modes or accelerate.
In the safety kit, drivers will find the Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) features, warning assist, and the Intelligent Headlamp particularly useful. Plus, there are several cameras positioned across the EV to help the driver manage blind spots.

Charging Information
Charge time for the Magma is the same as older Genesis EVs; a 350-kW ultrafast DC charger will get it from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes. It also comes with an onboard AC charger for home and office use.
Trims, Pricing and Rivals

Although there’s no information about trim levels yet, the GV60 Magma may come as a single-trim EV with a $74,000 MSRP, which sounds like a fair price, considering the luxury and power it promises. A starting price like that undersells rivals like the Porsche Macan EV ($75,000), Lotus Eletre ($84,990), and BMW iX ($87,250) by a wide margin. However, there’s no assurance that the price beat is enough to sway the target buyers. With so many established rivals duking it out in the electric EV segment, Genesis will need to find a unique reason for buyers to choose the new Magma over others.

Genesis GV60 Magma Verdict

Charming as the 2026 GV60 Magma is, we suspect most drivers would rather have a more spirited power to match its aesthetic looks. We might have been convinced that that’s all there is if we hadn’t seen the Lotus Eletre deliver over 900hp. And since Genesis is positioning the Magma nameplate as the track-ready version of all its existing models, expectations will be high.
Regardless, the design, tech and power output of the new Magma suggest an EV built to perform. Going by available photos, the final output won’t be any different from the Magma concept unveiled in 2024. According to Genesis, the GV60 Magma production is already underway. It will debut as a 2026 model sometime within the first half of the year.
