Hats off to Infiniti for holding its own in the large luxury SUV segment, a class dominated by heavyweights like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus. Although the second-generation QX80 (formerly QX56) brought changes that switched things up a bit, they weren’t quite enough to shake up the hierarchy. Now, Infiniti is further stepping up its game, revving up the competition with fancy tech in the all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80. And if first impressions are anything to go by, the automaker just might have cracked the code for a truly competitive luxury SUV.
The latest QX80 introduces a third generation of premium cruisers modeled on the Nissan Armada. True to its flagship status, it rolls out several exciting features, some of which took us by surprise. For instance, a 450-hp twin-turbo V-6 replaces a naturally aspirated V-8 for more exciting power output. But that’s only one of the many Infiniti QX80 standout features.
Leveled-Up Luxury

The latest Infiniti QX80 gets a fitting refresh that sets it apart from the rest of the lineup. For example, the blacked-out pillars create a floating roof effect, which adds a sleek, modern touch to the exterior. Keen to make a statement, Infiniti equipped the QX80 with a boxier front end. It also gets a bolder grille and is the first to feature Infiniti’s redesigned emblem. Wheels are larger and bolder, and new lighting elements – LED headlights and the full-width piano key-style lighting at the back – give the SUV a commanding appearance.

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a statement of class. We love the flush handles and the acoustic glass designed to block out wind and traffic noise. But even better, its overall profile is a show of confidence: sculpted design, fine details, and cool paint finishes complete the package.

A Monster on the Road

Unlike any other full-size Infiniti model, the 2025 QX80 uses a 3.5L turbo-twin V6 engine capable of a maximum 450 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Now turbocharged, the engine ensures quicker acceleration on low-end power. The previous 7-speed automatic transmission makes way for a smoother 9-speed auto transmission system. A standard Drive Mode Selector switches performance across multiple modes, including Snow, Sport, and Standard. When duty calls, the SUV steps up with 8,500 lbs of towing capacity, a standout figure in a class where 8,000 lbs is already considered impressive.

Rear-wheel drive is standard, and since a little extra muscle never hurts, an all-mode 4WD is available across all trim levels. There’s an exclusive Adaptive Air Suspension feature that adjusts ride height for better comfort and improved off-road capability. For a full-size SUV with so much brute, the 2025 Infiniti QX80’s 18mp-combined is understandable and is, in fact, an improvement on the outgoing V8’s 15mpg.
Ample Room for Eight

Inside the QX80 are three rows of heated seats, which can be arranged in a split-bench setup to accommodate eight people. The front row is ventilated, and there is an available massage function for occupants of the first two rows. Passengers get 39 and 43.8 inches of legroom in the middle and front seats, respectively. Regarding cargo space, the QX80’s 101 cubic ft isn’t far off from Chevrolet Tahoe (122 cubic ft) and Jeep Grand Wagoneer (116 cubic ft). Besides, the QX80’s smart storage solutions, including a floating console with pass-through storage and retractable cupholders, keep the interior organized.

High-quality materials such as graphite and Tuscan beige adorn the interior, but they’re only available in select trims. A 24-speaker Klipsch audio system combines with standard ambience lighting (64 color options) and a Tri-Zone Climate Control System to provide an immersive ride experience. In front is a dashboard from the future, an electronic gear selector, dual wireless charging pads, and a customizable 14.3-inch digital gauge.
Tech that Wows

Loaded with a host of new tech features, the 2025 QX80 stands as Infiniti’s most sophisticated luxury SUV yet. For instance, the 24-inch curved touchscreen is the largest in Infiniti history. It smartly incorporates aesthetics with smooth audio and media control and connects owners with voice commands and remote access features. Other additions to the model are a ProPilot Assist and an exclusive Journey Diary feature, which captures pictures and videos from the vehicle’s cameras – because what better way to relive your road trip memories?

There’s an updated garage door opener, a 3D Around View Monitor, and an Intelligent Cruise Control. Smartphone integration is available with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and Android Auto.

Pricing and Trim Options

Infiniti introduced new trim labels for the 2025 model to match the redesign. The entry Pure trim starts at $85,000 yet does not compromise on luxury feel and strong performance. The Luxe ($92,650) and Sensory ($100,645) trims add massaging front seats and a few premium upgrades. However, the most advanced driver-assist features, along with other exclusive perks, are reserved for the $110k Autograph trim, the highest on the lineup.

Above all, the Sensory trim gets you the best value for money without overpaying. 4WD is standard, and it has the Hydraulic Body Motion Control, which reduces body roll; that’s about the same extra features you get on the Autograph trim. But if you’re looking to stay below the six-figure mark, the Luxe trim presents a suitable alternative.
2025 Infiniti QX80: Rising to the Challenge

How does the latest Infiniti QX80 fare against rivals? Much better than previous models. The QX80’s 3.5L turbo-twin engine is a game-changer that puts it closer to more powerful rivals like the BMW X7, which boasts a staggering 523 hp. Its $85k base model undersells most rivals and makes it available to more buyers with little to no obvious tradeoffs. Overall, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is how you get luxury and capability in one package. It raises the flagship bar with many debut tech features, and, to be fair, upgrades don’t get much better than this.
